Word up

Pudgy little sticky fingers lifted up toward my face as the word "up" (emphasis on the "p") is pronounced most self-assuredly by Lucas.
The first word in context: "Up."
My new favorite word.

Insurance covers the awning. Good thing. Wasn't looking forward to handing over a WHOOPing $2,700!! Geez.

So as Luke and I were returning from the library this afternoon, just as we were about to turn on our street, I spotted this woman pitch her entire McDonald's cup (straw, lid and cup) on the stop sign right at our corner. I promtly rolled down the window, and said, rather loudly, "hello?" and then "HELLO?". I proceeded to get out of the car, pick up the cup and take it to her. She looked at me completely bewildered. I realized she probably didn't speak a word of English. I don't know where I got the nerve at that moment. I'm not sure why I felt like it was my obligation to stop her. Was it?

::awning casualty::

Our awning toppled in a 5 second gust of wind yesterday. Literally no other wind was blowing. It was like this gust rose up for the sole purpose of knocking out our refreshing shade. For some reason it made us really laugh. Oh there is so much to do on this house.

But it was a glistening sunny afternoon today with just the right amount of chiliness. I can't complain. I can't complain either about the custard and peaches Rob made for me after dinner. I even let my carb-counting lapse for a few minutes.

What I might be feel compelled to complain about the teensiest bit however would be sandpaper in the pocket of Rob's shorts....in the washing machine (now adorning my new red blouse). Twenty lashes with a wet noodle.

::that's handy::

This evening there was a cooling rain. After the 80 degree days of late, it was refreshing. Although realizing I had left Leila's stroller outside earlier this afternoon was not.

Hopefully this weekend will be the last painting-the-children's room weekend. Will be the third running.

Handyman Jeff fixed some items around the house which I'm ecstatic about. Buying a house doesn't automatically make one a handyman. No matter how badly you want to be.

::this is why we are so happy...L.O.V.E, love::

We'll see what happens. As it stands now I'm surprising the hubby with two small children, a balloon, flowers and chocolates (and camera of course) at his office.

::still alive::

So much keeping me from blogging recently. Mainly, the entire family sleeping in one room, our room, where the computer is. Making it nearly impossible.

I'm so glad the GWC helped some of you. It's nice to know a little difference was made even though I wasn't able to follow through as I'd liked.

We believe at this point that Rob's mum won't be have the surgery as anticipated. It's a little unclear (communication with the doctors is really poor) whether the cancer has spead to her lungs, but that seems to be the case. Betty (Rob's mum) is however surprisingly and inspirationally upbeat and happy. Bless her. She really is lovely.

We tried out a new church this weekend and are quite happy with it. The previous Presbyterian church we were visiting was a little too liberal for our, I mean my, liking. Calvary Chapel was WAY too huge for me although I love Chuck Smith. I was looking for a church family, not really a church city.

Luke's schedule is totally out of whack - up at 4:30 this morning. This is the main reason for my blog absence. I've missed it but have spent so much more time on the house, organization, redecorating, ect.

Trimming our lavendar bushes today. The garden is shameful. Yet another one of my projects. I miss my bloggin friends. Having serious withdrawals but it's all my fault.
